It's difficult to say exactly what causes psychosis, however it is known that too much stress or abusing alcohol or drugs can bring it on quicker. Psychosis can happen to anyone and most commonly happens in early adulthood. Around 2.5% of people will experience it at some time during their life. Fortunately it is treatable, especially if you seek help early. Usually this involves getting some medication from a doctor and talking with someone about making changes to the way you live your life (reducing stress).
